Too much at the Flea!

There was so much to chose from this morning at the flea market. It was 'Crazy Good'. I had to stop myself from looking before I didn't have any more room in my truck to haul everything home. Ran into lots of friends this morning too. Everyone was out! My pictures are not so clear today, sorry.

Favorite Find? This table above! Great lines, solid piece, perfect size. This will look great in a combination of paint and wood.

I am looking forward to the sun coming out today and going to an outdoor Music Festival and a Strawberry Festival. I LOVE this time of year!

Hope you all enjoy your Sunday!

pillows and flea

I had the house to myself Friday night, and decided to spend some time in my sewing room....here's what I made....

The back on the 12" pillows have envelope style closure, with a great vintage botton.

I was also able to make it the the flea market Sunday morning and got some great 'french' inspired items....

And this last item was actually picked up for me by sister-in-law at a yard sale....I think she has a very good 'eye'. Thanks Gina!!

Happy Father's Day everyone!
Enjoy!

Estate Sale and Birthday Dinner

Today was a busy but fun day. It started off with an estate sale. I was able to pick up quite an assortment of items...the directors chairs are metal with wooden arm rests...very cool and comfortable. Favorite find of the day?   No question-the wine glasses with the blue ball in the stem-gorgeous! I just had to keep them and use them for my husbands birthday dinner....

So as I was setting the table, I was distracted by the sheer beauty of these peonies and had to take lots of pictures, here are a few. I think you'll understand my distraction....

My son decided that the table was too 'pretty' for celebrating his Dads birthday, so he changed the centerpiece...I love it. He has learned a lot from watching his mom. ;-)

The sailboat is from White Flower Farmhouse on Long Island, NY. I purchased it there 2 years ago on a girls trip to the vineyards. Stunning store! (and blog!)

As most of you know, I am not much of a cook, but I like to experiment with simple recipes. Tonight's menu was caprese salad (my favorite now that tomatoes are in season)

and pizza on the grill. I've been wanting to try this for awhile. Here's how it worked out....

toppings....

Grill one side brushed with olive oil...

put the sauce and toppings on, put back on the grill.....

and, voila yummy pizza!!!

Off to have dessert and watch the Bruins win the Stanley Cup!

Enjoy!

Marketplace Weekend a big success!

Another successful sale at the Marketplace at Townsend Harbor this past weekend. Unfortunately, this is a picture taken on the last day, Sunday,  and there wasn't much left at that point. But I think you get the idea...it was very nautical and patriotic. Lots of red, white and blue! It was 'get your backyard ready for summer fun' themed. Thank you to all those attended! It was a lot of fun!

Upcoming dates for the Marketplace sale:
July 8-10, August 12-14, Septemeber 9-11.
 Fri & Sat 10-5, Sun 10-4

Due to the blowout weekend, I had to replenish the stock at the Spaulding Cooperage Shop....here's what's there now...well, it was all there when I left around noon on Sunday....The Spaulding Cooeprage at 1 South Rd, Townsend, will reopen on Weds 10am.

Enjoy!

A Wedding Shower!

So my little sister Katie is getting married this summer to a great guy, Jeff. Today was her shower. It was so much fun to see Katie with all of her long time friends, I am so happy for her! The shower was hosted by 3 great friends of the family that have known Katie since she was born, and everything was beautiful!

This is going to be one fun and memorable wedding!!!

(Katie and Me)

I was able to purchase wine glasses from her registry and have them shipped to her home in San Francisco, but I wanted to give her something to open here. This is what I came up with...

It's a vintage camera case that I embellished with cut out flowers of old dictionary paper, with buttons of the wedding colors for centers. I added the date of the wedding out of old bingo pieces and attached a French/English flashcard with the word ' to marry' and 'husband' and 'wife' on it.

Inside, I placed a set of my handmade coasters, numbered 1-12, and a great little decoupaged glass jar with the certificate for the wine glasses, all nestled in strips of antique sheet music. The case also had a little pocket that I put the Wedding March sheet music in along with an antique key that has a heart shape...oh so cute!

Tornado in Massachusetts

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tj5uvC9cLO4

Sorry I haven't blogged all week. We had a tornado, actually 3 confirmed, here in Massachusetts. Click here for more details....http://www.thebostonchannel.com/video/28128676/detail.html

It did not have the overall devastating destruction that the tornadoes that occurred last month in the Midwest states, but we just don't see storms like this here in western Mass. I live northwest of this area, but we had our scare here with a pop up storm heading for us, thankfully it missed us, and didn't materialize to much more than a bad thunderstorm. My husband is in the Mass. National Guard, and was deployed the day of the tornado to the city of Springfield and hasn't been home since. He, and his unit, are among the many helping these people that have lost everything....

The tornado went through 13 communities, including Brimfield-yes, that Brimfield. The largest antique show in the country. Thank goodness the big event happened the week prior. I can imagine what would have happened if those thousands of people were on the fairgrounds with no place to take shelter. And all the merchandise quickly becoming projectiles. Unimaginable!

Be safe everyone.....
