Cape Ann Day Trip

Yesterday I was lucky enough to sneak away for the day with my Step-mom and sister (who lives too far away, in California, while I'm here on the East Coast). We had a lovely day, and I wish I could share some pictures with you...but I left my iPhone and camera at home! Can you believe that?! I guess I was supposed to just enjoy the day and 'be in the moment'-and that I did. We did a morning Cruise on the Essex River, which was a beautiful way to start the day. After walking around town a bit, and shopping of course-I highly recommend Howard's Flying Dragon Antique Shop, 136 Main Street-It's my kind of place where there's stuff on stuff, and lots to dig through.
Love these Coke Crates because they don't have any dividers and make the perfect trays. And what can I say about these willow trays with domes? Love them!

We headed to Manchester-by-the-Sea after that, and stopped at The Grove Boutique and Cafe, where Susan has the most eclectic mix of merchandise. I picked up this candle-I am a sucker for great packaging!
Who knew that Tobacco Bark would smell so great?? Susan recommended that we go to Cala's Restaurant for lunch-and WOW was she right! Great salads-unusual combinations that work in the best way-YUM. After that we did some dream real estate shopping..still want that bungalow that we saw-and headed to Gloucester. Walked around their downtown area-sampled olive oil and vinegars at Cape Ann Olive Oil Co.-YUM, and cheese at The Cave-YUM-and a great newly opened vintage shop on Main Street-and you have to forgive me here, but I don't remember the name of the shop and my receipt did not have the shops name on it-but it had the best painted furniture, shabby chic style, and the shop had the most magnificent tin ceiling. If you are walking on Main Street-you'll find it. Our last stop was at Latitude 43-YUM. Fabulous dinner on the deck overlooking the harbor. What a great day-lots of eating, but lots of walking, laughing, and some shopping.
A treasured day for sure. Thanks ladies!
