Road Trip to Keene, NH

Keene, NH. Yes, the home of Keene State College.
I've never been, and felt the need for an adventure.
Downtown, Main Street, Keene is a quintessential New England college town. Of course, this was July and most of the college kids had gone home for the summer. The selection of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, clothing stores, art stores and bakeries was tremendous. A lot of independently owned, love that! Here's some of the shops that caught my eye...
Prime Roast coffee shop...

In the Company of Flowers...not just gorgeous flowers, but great gift items too.
The vintage Colonial Theater...
Great architecture-when I see this mansard roof, I can imagine I'm in Paris...

And this independent cafe, The Port Authority Cafe, Great Food~Snappy Service, where we went for lunch has the BEST menu-check them out at http://www.portauthoritycafe.com/Home.html
Vegan, vegetarian, grass fed beef burgers and the SPICES! I had the homemade ginger iced green tea-deliciously spicy! (also love their choice of music-old Frank Sinatra type) I wish I lived closer, I'd be a 'regular' for sure!

And I'm sad to say that I neglected to take a picture of The Keene Fresh Salad Company, were we picked up a half loaf (HUGE) of fresh, warm-from-the-oven, focaccia bread, sampled the home made pestos and bought a yummy cheese spread.

If you go to Keene, bring your appetite!
Enjoy!
