Closet Cleanout!!

Ok, I have to tell you that I had mixed feeling about showing you these pictures, but I bet most of us out there have a closet or two that become the catch all or the black hole. I just finished reading It's All Too Much by Peter Walsh. He talks about "living a richer life with less stuff" and I'm all for that. (Kinda funny how my business is about collecting and selling 'stuff' but I want my home to be very uncluttered.)
So I took Peter's advice and started with my closet. He states that most people only wear 20% of their owned clothing 80% of the time-huh, makes you think doesn't it? His rule...if you haven't worn it in a year, it's beyond repair, or doesn't fit then get rid of it.
Here's the embarrassing part....the before pictures...

....left side...

I don't have a big walk-in closet. I have a typical sliding door closet. My husband built me an organizer inside years ago, but since I've never had  a step stool in my closet, I've just tossed things up onto the top shelves...I'm too short to reach them... wonder what's up there???

....right side....

....top shelf for purses....I think....

The mantra, repeat after me...'keep only what you love, fits now, makes you feel good when you wear it, and others compliment you on when you do wear it' ...

Separate items into piles  #1. donate to charity, #2. consign or #3. throw out...

my rule #4 take out all the unmatching hangers...it just makes it look prettier...

The final result?? WOW! Why did I wait so long to do this???

I'm on a roll now!! Off to do the 'other' closet in our bedroom...the REALLY scary one...(ha!)

Enjoy your weekend!
Kris
